A big surprise for Room 16 this morning!

                    Miss Kim came to see us in class today.
                 She read us some of her new favourite books.                            Our favourite one was about Little Red Riding                                                    Hood and the Wolf.

             It was a different version to the original story.

             Next Term we are doing Narrative writing and 

               we will be reading different versions of Fairy Tales. 

                     

                      Just before she left Miss Kim gave each of us a Gingerbread man.                

                                                                 Oh so delicious!

                                                                  Scrumptious!

                                                                    Crunchy!

                                                                       tasty!

                                 We thought the Gingerbread man or woman was so yummy!

Still life Art

On Monday we had lots of vegetation in our room.

We had a variety of plants and leaves from the bush.

                                         We observed the shape and the texture of the leaves.

     

                                       Then using a pencil we had to draw the leaf we had chosen.
                                          Ms. France said to hold the pencil loosely and let the
                                                  pencil 'whisper' on the paper.
                                              This meant that we drew lightly on the paper.

                                  When we had drawn the leaves we used a piece of bamboo
                                            and indian ink to draw around the leaves.

                                                            Our leaves look amazing!

                                               We had to apply the Indian ink very carefully.

                                                            This was such enjoyable work.
                                  The next time Ms France comes in we will be using a variety of
                                                shades of dyes to enhance our leaves with colour.                  

Room 16 Plays

During our Daily 5 Programme on Thursday this week , the children wrote their own Plays during Work on Writing.  Here are a couple of them to watch. The first one was written by Alice and Connor.

Daily Five in Room 16

Here is how we learn during our Daily Five Reading Programme!!

First of all we choose three of these choices to do in Reading when we get to School.  If we are working with the teacher that day; then we only get to choose two options.

The options are: Read to Self, Word Work, Read to Someone, Work on Writing, Listen to Reading.

We rotate through these three options usually 20 minutes long for each option.

Here the Galilei Reading Group is at the teaching table ready to work with me.

Here Veronica is doing Listen to Reading.  

Caitlin is doing some Word Work on the whiteboards.

Manasa has chosen to do Work on Writing in his Journal Writing Book.

Ezra Has chosen a quiet place to Read to Self.

Tai is doing Work on Writing on the iPad.

Chelsea and Breeze are doing Word Work on the whiteboards.

Aryan and Cruz are doing Listen to Reading on the iPads in the background.

The Daily Five Programme works really in Room 16.  

The children's learning and knowledge is improving a lot in Literacy.
