Reading to Self

Today, Room 16 looked at the importance of 'Reading to Self' and we spent some quiet time reading to ourselves. We explored the ways in which we can Read to Self and read for enjoyment. For me personally, reading is about being able to escape reality and lose myself in a book.

Room 16 are aiming to become competent independent readers who can carry out sustained silent reading. Hopefully by the end of the term, we will be able to last longer and longer reading to self.

After our silent reading session, we were very lucky to have Ezra, the Apple of our Eye, to share and read us one of his most cherished books "A Color of His Own" by Leo Lionni.

Fantastic story and fantastic Mr. Ezra :) Thank you!

  1. Room 16 children will be trying to improve and build up their reading stamina. We have been choosing 'Good Fit' books during our library session. They have chosen a substantial chapter book to keep in their tote tray to use during 'Read to Self' time. The chapter book is ability based. How exciting Room 16 ...Reading for enjoyment!

  2. Keep up the awesome effort Room 16. Great to see you are getting the concept of 'Read to Self.' Ezra and I have enjoyed reading 'A Colour of His Own' many, many times over the years, I am glad you enjoyed it too :)
